Sustainable Jersey City - 2nd Annual Jersey City Fall Half Marathon
The 2nd Annual Jersey City Fall Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Run Fest to support the nonprofit, Sustainable Jersey City, takes place 9:30 a.m., October 2, at Lincoln Park, in Jersey City.
Sustainable Jersey City is a collaborative network of green community groups and individuals dedicated to moving the city into a more sustainable and resilient future. Their vision is for Jersey City to become the greenest, most sustainable and resilient city in New Jersey, with community stakeholders that are educated about and committed to environmental, economic and social justice.
This year’s race course is promised to be unforgettable, including paved, unrestricted roads, bridges, paths, a lake, and historic monuments. Course: (Half) 4 loops of a 3.27 mile course; (10K) 4 loops of a 1.55 mile course; (5K) 2 loops of a 1.55 mile course. Water stations approximately every 1.5 to 2 miles along the course; additionally, there will be Gatorade and gels.
Participants pick-up Race Day Packet 8 to 8:30 a.m., presenting picture ID; receive a bib with a timing chip attached. Preliminary results: posted around 10:30 a.m. Awards Ceremony: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by post-race celebration with bagels, fruits and drinks.
Finishers medal and awards include die-cast medal with full-color ribbon; awards/plaques for top three overall male and female (all distances); Half Distance - awards/plaques for top three age groups, male and female, 14-19, 20-24 until 75-79; 10K & 5K - awards/plaques for top three age groups, male and female, 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39 until 70 & over.
This year’s participants get to run 13.1 miles, 10K or 5K on a course designated with clear markers, tons of support and a finish line like no other. Photographs and finisher’s video provided on day of event.
