Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. ~ George Bernard Shaw
In our June issue, we talk about the importance of being happy and the balanced man. To be happy seems so simple, yet it can be so elusive. What can we do in our daily lives to get to a happier state of being? Whether by incorporating meditation, daily reflection, positive thoughts or changing a habit or two, there are many paths to happiness, and we each need to find the one that resonates for us. In “Happy All Day,” we provide ideas for each of us to find the path to our own happy place.
In honor of Father’s Day, this issue is packed with nuggets for dads and their spouses on the often anxiety-producing issue of hair loss, and another group that has found yoga to be beneficial is bodybuilders. In “Dad Matters: How to be
the Father Kids Need,” we are reminded of the important role a father plays in the healthy emotional and mental development of a child. There are challenges that can keep fathers from being involved along the way, but we must try to overcome them.
Having been lucky enough to have a father that has always been extremely involved in my life, along with my sisters, I have seen firsthand the value of an “involved” father-child relationship. From the time we were little girls, our father has been a source of safety and security. He tucked us into bed when we were young and coached our games—even giving up job opportunities so that he could do it— flew to be by our side at a moment’s notice when tragedy struck and continues to be a valued friend and mentor to us all.
I’ve been lucky. I know there are a lot of great fathers out there and more that need a bit of nurturing and confidence so they, too, can be great dads to their kids. We hope you enjoy reading about how to get happy and become a balanced man. Let’s all take time to celebrate with our own fathers, husbands, sons, brothers and friends to honor the father in all of them. Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s in our lives!
