Riverside Medical Group is conducting monthly diabetes education classes throughout Hudson County to instruct on how to live with diabetes and prevent complications at 506 Broadway and 544 Broadway, Bayonne; 609 Washington Street, Hoboken/Washington; 324 Palisades Avenue, Jersey City/Palisades; 6045 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen; 40 Meadowlands Parkway, Secaucus; and 225 60th Street, West New York. Classes are conducted by a registered dietitian that reviews diet, physical activity and self-management. Patients are given meal plans, portion guides and free samples.

Diabetes affects nearly 30 million children and adults in the U.S. today; nearly 10 percent of the population. Having diabetes doubles the risk for heart attack and death from heart disease. The American Diabetes Association estimates that one in three adults will have diabetes by 2050 unless we take steps to prevent this disease.
