Many people grew up eating store-bought cookies their mom bought at the supermarket. They tasted good, but lacked any real nutritional value, because they were designed to sit on shelves for months and months. Idit Or’s children will be growing up with something very different, because she is the owner of A&I Nutreats, where she makes cookies with the best and most nutritious ingredients. All of her cookies and treats are gluten-free, vegan, organic, low on the glycemic index, soy-free and to top it all off—hand-baked.
Born and raised in Israel, Or moved to the U.S. in 2003, and now lives in Hoboken. She is married with four-year old twins Ron and Lihi. A baker extraordinaire in her spirit and an avid biker, runner, yoga practitioner and rollerblader, her passion for clean eating by using natural organic ingredients, something that was introduced to her by her own mother at an early age, and her goal to ensure that her kids are making the right choices in what they eat have led to the development of A&I Nutreats, allowing more people to enjoy gluten-free, vegan, organic cookies and sweets.
Or always wanted to make sure that she was eating healthy; she got that passion from her mother at a very young age. While most kids were eating chocolate, she was eating carob. That passion for healthy eating encouraged her to make the same kinds of goodies for her own children.
The ingredients that she uses are ones that everyone can pronounce. For anyone that has ever flipped over a box of cookies from the store and wondered what they were eating, it can be alarming. No one wants to put food in their body when they don’t know where the ingredients came from, and that’s how A&I Nutreats came to be.
The cookies offered by A&I Nutreats are delicious and nutritious at the same time. Or does not believe in counting calories—she believes in ingredient quality and transparency, and knows that food in general, and sweets in particular, can be healthy and tasty. It’s simply about knowing which ingredients to choose and how to work with them.
The mission of A&I Nutreats is to offer a genuine alternative to the mass-produced cookies and sweets on the market without compromising taste. All of their products, in addition to being gluten-free, vegan, organic and low-glycemic, are free from chemicals, refined sugars, and GMOs. This means that consumers can have their sweets without feeling guilty about it later on.
A&I Nutreats uses organic, unrefined coconut oil, a true superfood. Its unique combination of fatty acids have profound positive effects on health, from fat loss to reduced risk of heart disease. The only sweeteners in these treats are either organic maple syrup, organic dates or organic coconut palm sugar, because they are low on the glycemic index, which means that after eating the treats, our blood sugar levels will not go up and down drastically.
Raw energy chocolate balls, raw chocolate truffles, chocolate almond hazelnut cookies, almond maple cookies and date & almond mini loaves comprise just part of the menu. All the ingredients are posted on the company’s website, and that makes all the difference in the world. When the label reads almond meal, organic unrefined coconut oil, raw organic cacao nibs, organic ground chia seeds and more, people know that they are getting quality treats to eat. These products are a great snack for kids, adults, athletes and anyone that is looking for healthy, nutrient-rich treats that are delicious, too.
A&I Nutreats cookies can be found at several stores throughout Hoboken and Tenafly, New Jersey, including the Organic Basic Food store, in Hoboken, and Healthway Natural Foods, in Tenafly, as well as online at several websites, including directly through the A&I Nutreats website. Or ships her products all over the U.S.
