Learn to Cook Healthy Ketogenic Meals

Hudson County Community College will offer a Ketogenic Healthy Eating class from noon to 4 p.m., January 5, with instructor Sami Khouzam. A ketogenic diet is comprised of high fat, adequate protein and low carbohydrates. The goal is to get calories from fat and protein instead of from carbs. It works by depleting the body of its stores of sugar so it will start to break down protein and fats for energy, causing ketosis and weight loss.

In this hands-on class, students will learn the theory behind this low-carb diet and the foods they can prepare and eat without sacrificing taste or nutrition, and also how to season and cook delicious, low-carb meals at home.

The award-winning Culinary Arts Institute is ranked number eight in the country. Whether a novice cook or a gourmet, their cooking and baking classes will inform and educate all participants.

Cost is $80, all materials are provided. Location: 161 Newkirk St., Jersey City. To register, visit HCCC.edu/continuingeducation/culinary.
